COVID-19
In 2022 New Zealand's response to COVID shifted to a model of self-management, where individuals with COVID-19 are provided with information and encouraged to access health or welfare services as required. The focus for health professionals will be on assisting those who reach out for help, and proactively supporting those who are deemed to be at high risk of complications (eligible for antiviral therapy). A small number of people with COVID-19 will become more unwell, and it is crucial that if you are isolating at home with COVID-19 and you have severe or worsening symptoms, you must inform a health professional (see below for contact information). In August 2023 all remaining COVID restrictions were removed, meaning that while isolating for 5 days with COVID is encouraged, it is no longer mandatory.
If you develop COVID, you may qualify for antiviral therapy. Eligibility for antivirals can be found here.
For eligible patients, antiviral therapy can be accessed via our clinic or participating pharmacies. Pharmacies providing antiviral therapy are listed here.

How to do a Rapid Antigen Test
Reporting a RAT result:
- - If you have a RAT test, you are encouraged to report the result, whether positive or negative
- - Record in My Covid Record, or call 0800 222 478 and choose option 3
- - Note that medical facilities are no longer routinely undertaking RAT tests
- - Entering a positive result via any of these methods triggers the start of the process for managing COVID
- - You will then receive a text with important information and directions
- - If positive please monitor your health and reach out if your symptoms are severe or worsening

During clinic opening hours, one of our doctors or nurses will call you back for a consultation to assess your health.
